In order to get rid of unsightly cellulite it is helpful to understand what it is and what causes it. Here is the dictionary definition of cellulite; persistent subcutaneous fat causing dimpling of the skin, especially on women’s hips and thighs, so the first step to reducing cellulite is to lose some fat, although thin women suffer from cellulite it is not as obvious or common.
Cellulite affects women more than men (90 percent of women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives) this is because the connective tissue in men’s fat cells is different to women. So this article is mainly targeted at women. One of the main causes of cellulite is believed to be from poor micro-circulation which makes it harder for nutrients to get to everywhere they need to go.
It is not 100 percent proven exactly what causes cellulite but there are theories from professionals as well as correlations that we can observe in those most affected, here are some things that can cause cellulite;
#Being overweight
#Over production of estrogen
#Alcohol
#Poor circulation
#Loss in skin elasticity
#Genetics
#Toxicity in your body
#A body that is too acidic
Tip – Cellulite is more visible in lighter colored skin so a good start would be to get a tan
Chia Seeds; these power packed seeds contain an enormous amount of nutritional value, most notably lots of vitamin C, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, these will help to improve skin elasticity and circulation. Chia seeds have been shown to reduce appetite thus aiding in weight loss. There are many more health benefits associated with chia seeds and the good thing is that they can be found not only in health food stores but many supermarkets are selling them for a very wallet friendly price.
Tip – Turn chia seeds into chia jelly by soaking the seeds in a glass of water for 1-2 hours, this will help to absorb nutrients better…
Avocado; This delicious buttery fruit helps with cellulite loss in much the same way as chia seeds, being rich in antioxidants, vitamin c and essential fatty acids. Many individuals avoid them because of their high fat content but what you need to keep in mind is that the fats are healthy fats which are essential for a healthy body and avocados are quite filling so an avocado or two a day is ok. Not to mention it is high in fibre and protein so it is filling and a good substitute for meat – meat is often full of toxins and can lead to too much protein intake, unused protein gets converted to fat cells.

Refined Sugar – along with causing cellulite this nasty stuff also speeds up the aging process and damages every organ in your body, weather you want to remove cellulite or not you should remove refined sugar from your diet.
Dairy – Dairy these days is full of hormones and antibiotics and on top of that it is very acid forming. Those are three reasons to avoid it if you want to reduce the amount of cellulite you have. This is one of the reasons asian women on average have noticeably less cellulite than western women. (very little milk in the asian diet)
Processed food – Fills your body with toxins which plays all sorts of havoc on the body. These foods should be avoided as much as possible and replaced with fresh organic wholefoods.
Alcohol – Fills the body with toxins and will make your body more acidic further more alcohol reduces the positive effects of vitamin C, zinc and calcium in the body, thus reducing the effect of breaking down fats into fatty acids.
