KANSAS CITY, KS (KTVI)-An intense manhunt is underway right now for a Kansas City, Kansas man who police say shot and killed five people in less than nine hours in two states. Police believe Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino , 40, killed four people next door to his home Kansas City home then took off in a red Dodge Ram truck.

That truck was found abandoned along I-70 east near New Florence, Missouri at 7:00am Tuesday. Police believe after abandoning the truck, Serrano-Vitorino had a confrontation with Randy J. Nordman, 49, who lived at a home on Tree Farm Road, around 7:20am. Police believe Serrano-Vitorino shot and killed Nordman, then took off running from the home. He has not been seen since.

Serrano-Vitorino is 5 foot 10 inches tall and 175 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a red and black flannel jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, and possibly blue jeans. His direction of travel is unknown.

Serrano-Vitorino is considered armed and dangerous and may be armed with an AK-47. Please use extreme caution if he is encountered. Do not approach or attempt to contact him. Call 911 or *55 immediately.

Up to 100 law officers are searching the area in the air and on the ground. Schools have been on lockdown all day Tuesday, and will only be released to parents or guardians at dismisal time. Montgomery County residents are being told to stay in their homes and lock their doors.

Kansas City, Kansas police say they don’t know what sparked the violence next door to where Serrano-Vitorino lived. Investigators say three of the victims in the Kansas City, Kansas shooting died at the scene; the other died at the hospital. One of the victims from that shooting actually was the person who called police.

Authorities say an off-duty Jackson County, Missouri sheriff’s deputy saw the Dodge Ram abandoned on the side of I-70 and recognized it from the description that was put out by police. That off-duty deputy from the Kansas City area called the truck in to authorities and that is how police found the abandoned Dodge Ram.

Serrano-Vitorino was in the United States illegally, according to the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  A spokesperson for the agency said Serrano Vitorino, an illegal alien from Mexico, was deported in 2004.  He was fingerprinted at the Overland Park Municipal Court, but ICE  erroneously issued the detainer to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement statement:

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) previously deported Pablo Serrano-Vitorino, an illegal alien from Mexico, in April 2004, based on final orders of removal from a federal immigration judge.  Mr. Serrano-Vitorino illegally re-entered the United States on an unknown date.  ICE will continue to monitor this case and will place a detainer on Mr. Serrano-Vitorino if he is taken into local custody.  ICE remains focused on smart, effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes threats to national security, public safety and border security.”

Tuesday evening Wyandotte County, Kansas District Attorney Jerome Gorman filed charges against Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino of Kansas City, Kansas.  He's been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connections to the 4 murders in Kansas City, Kansas.
