When you go to the gym and ask how to build a better side the answer is always SQUAT.

When you ask your trainer how to firm up your tush they will most likely answer you with Squat deeper..

When you Siri how to get rid of cellulite and magically turn your jello into a bootylicious dream it will answer you with SQUAT and shake it like Beyonce.

Ok, so you get it Squatting is the key but what other exercise will give you a shapely firm backside without racking your weight on the bar. I wish I could tell you that you could walk into a gym and squat all day but the reality is and reality bites sometimes, you need to do other exercises as well.

Yes, squats rock, yes squats work your entire lower body and can even shape your abs if you do them properly, BUT sometimes a girl has got to switch things up a bit so I am going to share with you one of my favorite exercises that I feel has been a game changer for my lower body.

  • The Curtsey Lunge also known as the glute activation lunge, activates the glutes in a way that targets the abductor muscles (the sides of your butt) as well as the glutes themselves, the hamstrings and quadriceps. When you do this exercise you will get what I mean and if you follow along with this video a tight tush will be yours!

I recommend adding this exercise to your leg day and to really focus on your legs and booty. The most important tip that I give to all of my girls I train is that they MUST connect the mind to the muscle and focus on it. If you just flow through the motions you will not get the same results as you would if you focused on the muscle. That is why so many experts speak about the mind body connection because it is SO important to getting results!
