Basically cellulite happens when tiny little pockets of fat and toxins lay just beneath the surface of the skin. There’s very little you can do about it, but there are a few things that do help reduce the appearance of cellulite, such as drinking two litres of water a day, cutting down on sugar and salt and carbs in general and dry body brushing… All of which I have done in the past but to no avail… Until now!
I recently tried this lovely anti-cellulite gel from the Spa Fit Range at The Body Shop, simply called “Toning Concentrate”.
I love the texture of the gel and I loved how it felt on my skin, it is cooling and tingles the skin slightly and while I noticed a difference, it was somewhat slight. I knew I had to put more effort in as I spotted a truly fabulous dress that I knew I just HAD to have for New Years Eve (in case you’re wondering, I DID get it and I will do a “what I wore” blog on it soon!) and while I hate body brushing because it hurts my skin and I’m always FAR too lazy (and usually too cold) to do it before my shower I decided I would head back to The Body Shop and invest in (yet another) body brush but when I got there I discovered an amazing new-fangled massager that is part of the Spa Fit range along with a brilliant information leaflet that shows the exact massage movements that you should use to help rid yourself of cellulite. Having studied body therapy in college (not that you would know by looking at me! I am very much a “do as I say, not as I do” type of person, due to sheer laziness) I wasvery impressed with how simplified they made the information but I had no doubt it was effective. And here is the amazing Spa Fit Massager!
At only €10.50 I decided it was a steal, seeing as I am just so over using the body brush! And let me tell you all, it was well worth every penny and if not more! This is officially my favourite beauty product at the moment. After a mere two uses I noticed an incredible difference. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take a picture of my thighs and bum before using it – and even if I had have done so, I don’t imagine my vanity would have allowed me to post it on the internet for all to see – But it would seem that the massager literally breaks down the larger pockets of fat and disperses them more evenly throughout the skin. The terrible dimple effect that I once had was starting to lessen with every use.
My laziness towards body brushing has also disappeared because I introduced the massager into my every day routine very simply, rather than keeping it in the shower and usually forgetting to use it before getting in the shower I keep the massager and the toning gel on my bedside locker, when I get out of the shower I dry my skin, use the massager and then rub in the gel and I use it on my bum, thighs, stomach and my arms. Rather than vigorously digging the massager into the skin, the way I would when body brushing I firmly massage the skin with the massager in one hand and feed the skin into the massager with the other, to ensure thorough massaging and I always go in circular motions and always up towards the heart. Once you see results like I have seen, you will no longer get lazy and make sure your cellulite is banished forever.
Unfortunately my toning concentrate ran out recently and I spent a week without using it and I definitely noticed that the skin looks less smooth using the massager on it’s own, so although I admit that the massager gets rid of the larger pockets of cellulite, the toning concentrate definitely refines and tightens the skin and so I hotfooted back to The Body Shop where I took pictures of the entire range to share with you all!
I also purchased the body scrub, as I usually use the delicious mango body scrub from The Body Shop but decided I might as well go all out as I love the range so much. Fingers crossed I notice improvement twice as fast!
And here is the entire range. As you can see there is also an invigorating massage oil as part of the range, you would not need to purchase both the oil and the toning concentrate and while I deliberated between the two for a while, I decided to stick to what I know works for me, and that is the toning concentrate, despite the fact that it is more expensive. Another huge reason I chose the gel over the oil is because the gel dries into the skin SO quickly, which I prefer as I have oily skin and I don’t like my skin feeling too greasy. That said, I am sure the massage oil works as well as the rest of the range.
The Spa Fit range retails in Ireland at the following prices: Massager €10.50
Body Scrub €24.95
Toning Concentrate €30.50
Massage Oil €25.50
I know there are cheaper products on the market that aim to target cellulite but really this is the first range I have used that REALLY works and I could not put a price on how confident I felt on New Years Eve in my little gold sparkly dress and no need for the 80 denier tights! Thank You, The Body Shop!
If anybody out there has tried this range out before, PLEASE let me know how you found it and also if you have found another alternative at a lower or higher price range, I would love to hear your stories! Jazz.
