Since I wrote the articles on cellulite I have had so many ask about detoxing. This is something I feel has made a huge difference in my quality of life as well as my aging. I was also inspired to write this as I worked with someone that I love and I consider a close personal friend and like family. This friend was struggling with a lymphatic issue, had never done any cleansing and had battled breast cancer. This friend has worked hard to eat right, exercise regularly and just take care of herself and so I wrote this with her in mind.
Many people are exposed to things they have no control over and some have made a few bad choices in their lives and have chosen to get healthy. As I thought about something people could do that is easy, inexpensive and will slowly detoxify you with out going into any kind of healing crisis, I decided to share dry brushing.
Lets first talk about all the things the skin does. The skin is the largest eliminating organ in the body and is responsible for ¼ of the daily body’s detoxification. Over one pound of waste acids, each day of the average adults life, are eliminated through the skin, mostly through our sweat glands. One third of our blood is circulated to the skin and the skin is known as our third kidney. The skin is the first to show signs of imbalances or deficiencies and yet it is the last to receive nutrients. Dry brushing is a great way to stimulate all the detoxification organs through a gentle massage.
One of the main reasons I like dry brushing so much is because of the affects on the lymph system. Below I will list other benefits but for now I want to focus on the lymph system. If you have done the HCG program, you need to really pay attention. This is something common seen in someone that has done HCG, when doing energetic testing, that his or her lymph system has been over loaded. We store all our toxins in our fat and losing a pound of fat a day dumps a lot into the system.
So you are thinking, what exactly does the lymph system do? Well Answer.com had a nice simple explanation. The lymphatic system helps to maintain fluid balance, defend the body against disease and absorb liquids from the intestine and transport them to the blood. The Lymphatic System collects and returns fluid that leaks from blood vessels. It absorbs fats and vitamins. Lastly, it defends against invading microorganisms, such as cancer cells and disease. Delivering nutrients, oxygen, and hormones from the blood to the cells that make up the tissues of the body system is also what the lymphatic system does with the circulatory system. This is an important system. It is a slow moving system and dry brushing helps get things moving. If you are finding you are retaining water and you can’t figure out why, it may be a lymphatic issue and dry brushing may be beneficial to you. I would also suggest using a lymphatic homeopathic drainer. This is a homeopathic that helps the system todrain properly.
I would like to make a brief comment on cellulite because so many deal with this and are interested in it. As I explained in some of my other blogs, we store our toxins and our emotions in our fat cells. When trying to rid your self of weight and/or cellulite you want to reduce your toxins and even your toxic emotions. Anger, resentment, hurt, fears, just to name a few are some of the most negative emotions and are believed to build up as cellulite. You want to use emotional remedies, affirmations and even biofeedback if necessary to shift your self if you truly want to get rid of your cellulite. Alkalizing your diet is beneficial to your skin and eating foods that nourish your skin like, essential fatty acids like omegas and flax oils. Tomatoes, foods rich in lecithin like eggs (this means the yoke), berries of all kinds and dark leafy greens are important to be part of your daily diet, and of course regular exercise.
Well you need the right kind of brush that has soft natural fibers and a long handle that can be removed. The picture above is a good example.

When I get out of the shower I will put Olive oil on. I sometimes with take my toxin free lotion and put half in another bottle and then add olive oil and shake. I love the way this makes my skin look and feel. This is something we all can afford to do for ourselves to keep us healthy and looking good.
