, located in Dayton, OH, recently completed construction on a new 12-story wing designed to house their heart clinic. Designed by , Tournesol Siteworks provided standard and custom planters for the garden in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit, cafeteria and main entrance areas. The facility was recently awarded LEED Silver status, making it one of the greenest hospitals in Ohio.
The project was installed by , and Tournesol was represented by our local partner. There were over 134 planters, in sizes ranging from 24″ in diameter to 8’L x 36″W x 36″H, in round, square and rectangular shapes. Many represented customizations of our Wilshire Collection planters, others had to be made from scratch. Several required inset areas to hold lighting elements.
Our CWM Modular container irrigation system was installed in most of the pots to facilitate maintenance.
Higher levels of traffic at the entrance of the hospital demanded a different solution. There, Fullmer’s installed Tournesol’s low, lightweight concrete bowls.
Fullmer’s has done a wonderful job with the installation and maintenance of this great treatment of a confined space. The plants create the atmosphere, and the planters, with a color matched to the surrounding walls, don’t feel confining. Overall, the pictures suggest a calming, comfortable public space. Nice work by all!
