NEW AND IMPROVED VACANCY WEBSITE: 

Oxford House has a national website sponsored by the World Service Office. On this website is a directory listing of all the houses in each state, including Oklahoma. The directory has, as part of the information provided, a link for the public to check on the vacancy status of each house. With over 1500 houses in the country, it would be an impossible task for World Services to keep the vacancy information for each house current, so in 2008, at the Tenth Annual Oxford House World Convention in New Orleans, LA, the general body voted in Resolution #37 which states:

“Be it Resolved: That it is the duty of the secretary of each house to update vacancies on the website once a week for their house. [Vote 539 to 13] “

It is suggested that immediately before or after each house meeting, the house secretary should log-in to the National Website and verify that the vacancy information, along with general information, is correct. Even if there are no membership changes in the week, the secretary should still log-in as part of his/her duty. Many treatment providers, counselors, case managers, and especially potential members who don’t have a brochure, will check the website to find out which house has openings and which house to call. Current data on houses is crucial to our goal of providing a safe, sober, supportive home for the next suffering alcoholic/addict.
