New Ways to Lose Those Cellulite Dimples
BY LEE WALKER
Women may love the dimples that help light up their faces when they smile, but they don’t appreciate them on their thighs, buttocks or upper arms. According to Bruce Katz, M.D., medical director of Juva Skin & Laser Center, in New York City and a clinical professor of dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, increased incidence of cellulite in women is related to hormonal changes and the anatomy of septa-fibrous bands of skin tissue that surround fat cells and keep them in place. To help make cellulite dimples disappear, Shelle Misiorowski, owner of Naples tech-hip spa Trim & Tone, uses VelaShape, in conjunction with Exilis, another non-surgical device that melts fat cells and rejuvenates the production of collagen. VelaShape targets the adipose connective tissue level, which is largely composed of body fat separated by septa, which becomes hard and rigid as we age. The pressure on fat cells by the septa causes the fat cells to become buoyant and push upward through the spacesbetween the septa fibers, causing dimpling.
“VelaShape is the first and only FDA-approved, non-surgical, non-invasive technology that combines powerful energies such as radio frequencies and infrared heat to reduce the volume and appearance of fat tissue and cellulite,” Misiorowski explains. “It works well with Exilis, which harnesses the power of ultrasound vibrations and radio frequency energy to liquefy cellulite on the abdomen, hips and thighs. Faster, visible results happen when I combine the two treatments. I’ve also seen immediate results when treating the face, neck, arms, knees, back and buttocks,” advises Misiorowski who regularly receives referrals from area plastic surgeons.
“When we add a VacuStep workout to the regimen, results are amazing,” she adds. The elliptical VacuStep machine features a low-impact, fat-burning chamber. The equipment directly activates blood circulation in the body’s major cellulite zones of hips, buttocks, stomach and thighs, and users typically see impressive results after only four weeks.
Depending upon an individual’s diet and exercise routines, Misiorowski reports that maintenance is necessary every six to 12 months.
Thank you so much to for not just one fantastic feature for the month of February, but two awesome features!

Non-Surgical Ways to Refresh and Re-Contour
BY DEBRA NOVAK
In Western Europe during the Victorian era, a visit to a Turkish bath was considered cutting edge. Today, cutting-edge spas are tech-hip, equipped with advanced machines and techniques that provide clients with more contoured bodies and fresher faces. Since opening in 2007, Trim & Tone Spa, in Naples, has offered Southwest Floridians some of the most state-of-the-art spa services, products and equipment available anywhere today. “I love the beauty industry, so I enjoy attending educational seminars and expos, as well as doing significant research to keep up on the latest technology,” says Michelle Misiorowski, who owns and operates the spa with her husband, John. “It’s especially rewarding to find unique technologies, such as Exilis, VelaShape, VacuStep and the Formostar InfraRed Body Wrap, that address the effects of aging, wrinkles, damaged skin and cellulite without involving medical or surgical intervention.” Exilis is a non-invasive, non-surgical device that melts fat cells andrejuvenates the production of collagen. Used for cellulite reduction and skin-tightening, it harnesses the power of ultrasound vibrations and radio frequency energy to liquefy cellulite on the abdomen, hips and thighs. “We’ve also seen immediate results when treating the face, neck, arms, knees, back and buttocks,” advises Misiorowski. VelaShape is the first and only FDA-approved, non-surgical, non-invasive technology that combines powerful energies to reduce the volume and appearance of fat tissue and cellulite. “I often use the Exilis and VelaShape treatments together for even quicker results,” explain Misiorowski, who regularly receives referrals from area plastic surgeons. She notes that the VacuStep Workout is also effective against cellulite and fat. “The elliptical machine features a low-impact, fat-burning chamber. Users see impressive results after only four weeks,” says Misiorowski. The equipment directly activates blood circulation in the body’s major cellulite zones ofhips, buttocks, stomach and thighs. The Formostar InfraRed Body Wrap for cellulite reduction utilizes six silicone treatment pads placed at targeted areas that include the thighs, for slimming and cellulite reduction, and the abdomen, hips and arms, for slimming and fat loss. Misiorowski says it also burns calories and increases metabolism. The spa also offers signature seven-layer European facials by Jacqueline; deep-pore cleansing; a non-surgical facelift mask; alpha hydroxy acid peels and dermaplaning, as well as butterfly eyelash extensions; waxing; aloe cloth body wraps; detox foot baths; a far infared sauna; full body massage; and the new VersaSpa system, a full-body spray tanning treatment.
