Cellulite: Here Forever?
So, we know that “they” have told us that cellulite is with you forever and that there is nothing you can do about it. Well, I’m here to tell you that is simply not true. There are some foods that make cellulite worse and some foods that make it better. I will go over a few here.
Bad Foods For Cellulite
Some foods are really bad for cellulite, actually making it worse. Here is a short list of some of them and why they are so bad.
- Processed Food – If you have spent any time looking into a solution for your cellulite you have come across this one. Basically, if you didn’t cook it, it’s a processed food. And the problem with processed food is that to stay on those shelves at the store for so long it has to be loaded with preservatives. It’s simply not natural for bread to stay fresh for a week. It’s not normal for meat to last for 2 weeks in your meat drawer. Try leaving a pound of ground beef or a chicken in your meat drawer for 2 weeks and see what happens. Your body doesn’t really know how to process these chemicals. Your liver doesn’t know how to get rid of them so, they get stored in your body, instead.
- Whole Milk and Cheese – The milk industry has spent so much money telling us that we should drink more milk, we now believe that we simply wouldn’t have any bones without it! This is simply not true. There are plenty of food sources of calcium that don’t contribute to cellulite. The truth is humans are not built to digest cow’s milk. Neither are other animals, for that matter. What other animal drinks cow’s milk or ANY milk for their entire lives? Cows don’t even drink cow’s milk for their whole lives. Think about it!
- Tension and Stress – For years people say massage will help with your cellulite and they are right. One of the reasons why is because it relaxes you. Stress and Tension releases a hormone called cortisol into the bloodstream. This hormone sends a shout out to your body that you will be starving soon. In response, the body clamps down on all your fat stores! Not good for cellulite!
Good Foods For Cellulite
The good news is there are many, many foods that are actually good for cellulite reduction.
- Slow Carbs – Slow Carbs are carbs that are absorbed slowly into the bloodstream. Carbohydrates have gotten an incredibly bad reputation thanks to Atkins. But, carbs are what your body uses for immediate energy. Not all carbs are good, though. Typically slow carbs are non-starchy. Think whole grains, and basically not white. That’s over simplifying, of course but, it’s easy to search for slow carbs.
- Lots and Lots of Vegetables – Yeah, Yeah, I know some of you are sick of hearing this one but, it’s true. I am not a big fan of vegetables. Before I started my research in health the only vegetables I ever ate were canned green beans, corn, and potatoes. Nothing from the produce isle at ALL! I still don’t like alot of vegetables but, i have found a few that I like and so, I eat a LOT of those particular vegetables. I love broccoli, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, and cucumbers. No matter how much people tell me to eat spinach, kale, and mustard greens, I never will! So, I eat a lot the vegetables I do like and stay away from that gross stuff I don’t!
- Healthy Fat – Yes, this one comes as a shock to a lot of people. But, I’m not talking about bacon cheese burgers, here. I’m talking about olive oil, avocados, cold water fish like salmon and tuna, and the ONE saturated fat coconut oil. Other good sources of healthy fats are nuts and seeds and olives.
You (and I) are not doomed to have cellulite forever. There are many things you can do about cellulite. Also, cellulite and fat are not the same thing. Many “thin” women have cellulite and, I was one of them.
