BONDURANT, Iowa -- This is a tough season for Bondurant farmer Cris Friedrickson.

On Monday he buried his father, Ron Friedrickson after a five month battle with pancreatic cancer.

For the past three years his 7-year-old son Landon has also been fighting cancer. Landon’s battle had been in remission, until it returned of late. With his Dad so sick, Cris also had to be driving to Kansas City, to get treatment for Landon.

So it was no surprise, when a number of Cris’s friends and neighbors decided to help Friedrickson finish the corn harvest. He has around 300 acres of corn scattered in fields around Bondurant.

Neighbors lined up five combines several semi trucks, and an army of volunteers to help get the harvest in. The Brick Street Market donated food to feed the workers at noon.

Tuesday started with some heavy fog, so farmers had to wait a bit until the sun appeared.

In an interview with Cris, he noted his dad would love this, in fact for someone else, he’d be organizing.
