It feels strange almost for me to be talking about bombs and insecurity and the incompetence of our leaders *coughs* excuse me; I feel all that needs to have been said, have been said. My problem with what I just said now is this, if all that should have been said have been said, what about all that needs to have been done? Have they been done?

When I was younger, one of my life goals was to go to the US and live there. I loved everything American and wanted to live/ work and die there…. As an adult, I have become more patriotic to Nigeria, not obviously because Nigeria is the new America but because, the ‘good’ of my land excites me.

‘Nigeria, Great Nation’; am sure, was the dream of heroes past- Azikiwe, Balewa, Murtala and others… I wonder if they can recognize the Nigeria we live in today.

Despite many text messengers and all sorts of information hinting that Boko Haram would strike on Christmas day, no security measures except for the ‘stop and search’ was in place. It is already established that our policemen use their eyes to find bombs while their hands pocket money and so, they weren’t our best covers in the case of boko haram attacks but then, we were ‘hopeful’ because our great president assured us that, ‘government was on top of the situation’.

Three sadistic bombings later on the Christmas day, our great president told us that, ‘The issue of bombing is one of the burdens we must live with. It will not last forever; I believe it will surely be over’. interesting! Well, his children did not die there and his ‘fellows’ had all sorts of security around them and their kids so, it was okay to say, by inference now… let goats keep dying to satiate these vampires… maybe someday, they’d run out of materials for bomb-making.

A president that insists on ignoring the cries of its nation over the removal of the trillions of naira for fuel subsidy which it insists is for national security come 2012, turns around to tell Nigeria his belief… ‘I believe…’. No facts, no figures… just trillions spent on the acquisition of belief.

He lives in Aso Rock! He does not see the destruction wrecked on Churches all over Nigeria. Maidugiri, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano…. Strikes abound. Protests ground our streets yet… our president lives in Aso Rock.

Our president went to school (in his own words, without sandals)… for those who voted for him, (though they now deny) he was the one who would understand Nigeria’s plight. When did cluelessness become humility? Now, he is popularly known as Mr Clueless and yet, our fate for protection rests on his shoulders.

We have watched with the rest of the world, the many deaths in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Syria… but, they usually were very ‘far away’. Now, Christians are falling left and right in the North… the far North… Far…. Protesters all over Nigeria are being tear-gassed and humiliated. Our media has been censored from telling the truth… yet, he lives in Aso Rock!

I do not live in Aso Rock yet but, my goal now is to live there with Mr President until the gods hear his belief in the someday demise of Boko Haram and come to our aid…

I do not live in Aso Rock yet but, my goal now is to live there until the cloud of fuel subsidy removal… the hurts and the aches of the common man is heard by Mr President… what about you? Wouldn’t you want to live in Aso Rock too?
