Patricia Matthews, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist who studied acupuncture at The International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. She completed her first internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, NM, working with post surgical and stroke patients. She also completed another internship at the ChengDu University Hospital of Chinese Medicine in ChengDu, Sichuan, China.

FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a non-surgical method of reducing the signs of aging. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is more than a cosmetic procedure, it is a revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger—from the inside out. This procedure involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific areas and acu-points of the face, ears, neck, hands, trunk, and legs along channels or meridians of energy. Facial rejuvenation improves muscle tone, increases collagen and elastin production, reduces sagging and puffiness around the eyes and neck, moisturizes skin, and improves circulation. This treatment is paired with lymphatic drainage to promote the clearing of toxins (dead skin cells, plugged oil ducts, residue from products used on the face). Treatments are 1 hour long and are most effective in a series of 3 to 10 sessions.

ACUPUNCTURE “TUMMY TUCK”

Like all acupuncture, the acupuncture “tummy tuck” works from the inside out to revitalize and rejuvenate the body. If you have lost weight but are disappointed with the tone and elasticity of your skin, an acupuncture tummy tuck can help tone and lift loose skin. It can also help reduce adipose tissue, disburse cellulite, and in combination with exercise and dietary adjustments this treatment can help you quickly loose inches while at the same time, cultivating gastrointestinal health. Treatments are 1 hour long and are most effective in a series of 3 to 10 sessions.

CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY

This therapeutic modality is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functionality of discrete body systems via manipulation of the cranio-sacral system. Gentle pressure on the muscular and facial systems is used to adjust dysfunctions in the body that cause pain or illness. I often use cranio-sacral treatment in conjunction with acupuncture to address specific health and wellness issues.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE THERAPY

Lymphatic drainage therapy is a massage-like treatment that encourages lymph to flow more freely throughout the body. The lymphatic system is your body’s trash collector. Dead cells, excess vitamins, drug residue, and the rest of your body’s waste travels through this system to eventually be discarded, helping you to stay healthy and strong. This treatment is used in conjunction with Facial Rejuvenation treatments, and is also often used for edema and pain reduction.
