Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. Steeped in the philosophy of developing a closeness with nature, ikebana is an ancient and disciplined Japanese art form in which each arrangement is a living thing bringing nature and humanity together.
Ikebana International, a cultural organization, was founded in 1956 by an American, Ellen Gordon Allen of Washington, DC. Ikebana is now practiced worldwide, with the encouragement and support of Ikebana International, based in Tokyo, Japan and local chapters around the globe.
Ikebana International Harrisburg Chapter#18 is one of the organization’s oldest chapters, having been founded in 1958. Our chapter welcomes new members.
